Introducing-Me!
Hi Everyone!
I'm Nellie. I am currently taking my last 2 classes of my master's program at Dominican University. Almost done! I have been working in special education for the last three years in Park Ridge. I can genuinely say that I have chosen the right career path for myself, and that I truly enjoy going to work every day.
I got my undergrad degree from Loyola University Chicago- go Ramblers! :) Though I love Dominican, nothing will ever quite compare to my Loyola experience...I even sport a Loyola tattoo. I currently live in Jefferson Park, so you can say Chicago has definitely always been home for me. I have 5 siblings (I know!)- 4 of them just moved to New Orleans with my parents. So I visit there a lot when I need to get away, and when I need some good southern food.
I look forward to this semester! I've never blogged before so bare with me...I can't wait to read all of yours!

My latest trip to New Orleans!
4 out of 5 of my siblings- pretty good for us!

Hello Nellie! Nice to meet you and thanks for sharing a little bit about you. I am sure you are anxiously counting down the days before graduation!
ReplyDeleteHas going through the SPED program changed your methods to teaching in classroom? I am amazed at the many approaches to learning and teaching that we have learned in my first year of the program so far. I don’t have teaching experience and so going through the program for me is a little tougher sometimes. Unfortunately, I can’t go back the next day and apply what I’ve learned in the classroom nor am I able to see the end result when I decide to test out some new strategy. I love hearing feedback form current teachers and tapping into their train of thought – it really really helps paint that picture for me.
Ugh! I wish we had the New Orleans weather here – anything but whatever is going on here!
I am actually looking at taking a little weekend trip down there with my son. We follow a lot of the history of Mexico and only now realized one of the more memorable presidents during the revolution there, was exiled from the country and he found refuge in New Orleans. There is a statue somewhere down there and I want to see it (I am a big history person)! Will you be following the family down to New Orleans as well???
I hope your blogging experience is a good one – I have never blogged outside of posting comments on FB/Instagram so this was fairly new to me. I set up my blog and looked it at it for a few hours, then went back to it and hit post and hoped it looked the way I imagined. This will be fun and after reading around this is definitely something fun to include in a classroom or even a good resource to parents.
Happy blogging!
Hi, Nellie. Oh my goodness- the whole family moved?! That must be tough for you but you must love Chicago to stay! Your commitment to your love of Loyola sure is something! What kind of Loyola tattoo do you have?
ReplyDeleteI have 'ad majorem dei gloriam' on my foot! It is on the Loyola shield, and means 'for the greater glory of God'!
DeleteHi Nellie,
ReplyDeleteAw, I didn't realize your family moved there! It's such a great city- the food, music, nightlife, people, weather. So much good stuff. Pearl mentioned the history and statues...there are a lot of great history tours and voodoo tours in the French Quarter. I'm not a huge history buff, but the tours were always pretty interesting and lead by some characters.
I have a couple classes left too. I can't wait to student teach and finish up this fall!!
